On December 6th, the “New Energy Vehicle Industry Development” thematic dialogue, one of the key events of the 2023 Green Development Technology Innovation Dialogue, was successfully held at the Shenzhen New Generation Industrial Park. The event was organized by the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology, with support from the Shenzhen Science and Technology Exchange Service Center, Jingrui (Shenzhen) Technology Innovation Center Ltd., Shenzhen High-level Talent Joint Promotion Association, and co-organized by the Aotu Intelligent Connected Innovation Center, among other units. The dialogue brought together leaders from relevant government departments, renowned experts and scholars in the Sino-European field, representatives from research institutions, leaders of enterprises and technology associations, as well as forward-thinking entrepreneurs in the market. The focus was on the theme of “New Energy Vehicle Industry Development” in the context of the “Dual Carbon” strategy, facilitating in-depth exchanges and discussions to contribute cutting-edge insights to the development of the new energy vehicle industry.
Global Guests Focus on Innovation in New Energy Vehicles
Against the backdrop of the “Dual Carbon” strategy, the new energy vehicle industry has become a crucial breakthrough and focus for seizing the global new energy market. Technological innovation and key core technologies in the face of industry changes have become vital for the development of the new energy vehicle industry. During the thematic dialogue, numerous domestic and foreign guests delivered keynote speeches, policy interpretations, and thematic sharing, focusing on innovation in new energy vehicle technologies.
Guest speaker Guan Zhichao, Expert of the State Council’s Science and Technology Expert Committee and Chief Engineer of the Shenzhen Comprehensive Transportation Operation Command Center, delivered a keynote speech titled “Key Technologies and Industrial Application of New Energy Intelligent Connected Vehicles and Roads Coordination.” Guan Zhichao provided a detailed introduction to the “New Energy Intelligent Connected Autonomous New Transportation System” from five aspects: research background and ideas, overall architecture, main technological innovations, technological advancements comparison, and industrial application effects.
Johannes Vizethum, Executive Director of the German Industry 4.0 Research Institute, presented a keynote speech on “Exploring the Development Trends of Sino-European New Energy Vehicle Industry Technology Cooperation.” He shared insights on how the European veteran gearbox manufacturer ZF Friedrichshafen transformed and presented its latest electrification research results. Vizethum also proposed considerations for complementary advantages between European traditional car manufacturers and Chinese new energy companies.
High-level advisor Gao Peng from the Norwegian Innovation Agency provided policy interpretation around “Sino-European Technology Cooperation – Europe Horizon Project ReConnect China WP1.” He first introduced the historical origins and key cooperation areas of Sino-Norwegian technology cooperation, then detailed the progress of the Europe Horizon Project ReConnect China.
Luoweiying, China Area Manager of the British company DUKOSI, delivered a thematic sharing on “Smart Digital Battery Solutions.” He pointed out that the electric vehicle (EV) battery pack industry faces various challenges, including a lack of traceability, complex production processes, high-voltage protection, complex design processes (400V→800V), and the Battery Management Unit (BMU) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) as the main controller.
Ma Lichao, Senior Engineer at Shenzhen Pursuit Testing Technology Co., Ltd., discussed the “Implementation and Exploration of the EU Battery Passport” from five perspectives: the background of the introduction of the EU Battery Passport, the scope of the battery passport, core content and requirements, future prospects, and the exploration of the Pursuit Testing Battery Passport.
Yao Quanli, Chief Strategy Officer of ZTE Intelligent Automotive Co., Ltd., delivered a thematic sharing on “Development and Practice of Bus Electrification and Intelligence.” He believed that with the continuous evolution of electric vehicle technology, integrated design will undoubtedly become a future trend. The electric drive bridge is a mechatronics integrated drive system designed for electric vehicles, with advantages such as high integration, small size, and low energy consumption.
Hu Chao, Deputy General Manager of ZTE New Energy Automotive, focused on the theme “Current Situation and Prospects of Wireless Charging for Electric Vehicles” in his thematic sharing. He pointed out that the wireless charging industry is in its early stages, with the upstream and downstream industry chain forming preliminarily. The high current costs at present are one of the main factors restricting the development of the industry, but the cost reduction path is clear, and the final cost-effectiveness can form competitiveness.
Supporting the Development of Shenzhen’s New Energy Vehicle Industry
Sun Nan, a member of the Party Group of the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology, pointed out in his speech during the “New Energy Vehicle Industry Development” thematic dialogue that in the future, the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology will continue to leverage its organizational, technological, and talent advantages to connect various innovative elements. It aims to build a deep integration platform for the new energy vehicle industry between Shenzhen and Europe, exploring new models and mechanisms for the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
