On October 13, 2023, China-Europe New Generation Innovation Technology Cooperation Seminar Successfully Held”. The event, jointly organized by the Shenzhen New Industry Park, Gensol (Shenzhen) Technology Innovation Center Ltd. (referred to as Gensol Innovation Center), and co-hosted by Futian District Investment Promotion and Enterprise Service Center, aimed to promote cross-border collaboration, drive innovation in the Sino-European new generation information technology industry, and strengthen deep interactions between China and Europe in terms of technology, market, and policy.
This seminar was hosted by Shenzhen New Generation Industrial Park, co-organized by Gensol, and co-sponsored by Futian District Investment Promotion and Enterprise Service Center. The event brought together domestic and foreign industry leaders, innovators, government representatives, and academic experts to share insights on the theme. Esteemed guests from the academic and research community gathered both online and offline, envisioning the prospects of China-Europe trade cooperation and delving into ways to leverage the respective technological and industrial strengths of China and Europe. The discussions aimed to further expand the space and dimensions of cooperation in the field of new-generation information technology between the new generation information technology industry in Shenzhen and relevant countries and regions in Europe.
Distinguished guests included Li Eryi, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Futian Industrial Investment Service Co., Ltd., Gao Lin, former Second Inspector of the Municipal Commerce Bureau and current First Secretary of the Joint Party Committee of the Municipal Social Organizations Federation, and Liao Bin, Director of the External Cooperation Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Commerce Bureau. The event also attracted attention from major media outlets such as Southern Daily, Shenzhen News Network, Shenzhen Commercial News, Shenzhen Evening News, and Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.
At the beginning of the event, Li Eryi, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Futian Industrial Investment Service Co., Ltd., extended a warm welcome to the participants. Li highlighted the active implementation of Futian District’s “8+3” industrial cluster layout and development strategy in the Shenzhen New Industry Park, seizing opportunities in the 5G industry development and becoming a favorable location for enterprises in the new generation information technology, the Internet of Things, and the digital economy. The focus of the seminar was on cooperation and exchange between China and Europe in the field of technological innovation in the new generation information technology. The event aimed to explore innovative paths and promote the development of technological innovation. It is hoped that the seminar will inspire more innovative thinking, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and provide new ideas and methods for addressing global technological challenges. Following this, Dr. Wolfgang Penzias, former Director-General of the EU Innovation Directorate and former Trade Counsellor of Austria to the Gulf States, delivered a speech.

During the keynote speech session, Ms. Guo Shanshan, Director of the Freeman Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sustainable Development Research Institute, delivered a presentation on the “Development Trends of European Technology Introduction and Chinese Companies Going Global.” The institute integrates technological, industrial, and service resources between China and Europe, striving to provide comprehensive value enhancement solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises. Ms. Guo shared experiences and insights into Sino-European business cooperation, offering beneficial suggestions for Sino-European collaboration and international business expansion.

Mr. Johannes Vizethum, Executive Director of the German Industry 4.0 Research Institute and partner of the Frauenhof Applied Technology Research Institute in Germany, delivered a keynote speech on “The Road of Sino-European Technological Development and Exploring New Models of Sino-European Development Cooperation.” Mr. Vizethum mentioned the ongoing positive collaboration between Chinese and European companies in AI-based energy-efficient industrial projects. He highlighted the transformation in Europe’s energy supply and demand in recent years, particularly the integration of new energy technologies and information technology driving energy transition. Mr. Vizethum expressed his belief that Sino-European collaboration in the future will uncover more investment opportunities in collaborative research and development.

Zhang Yun, Director of the Vibrant Promotion Department of the Futian District Investment Promotion and Enterprise Service Center, presented the theme promotion “Entering Futian, Winning the Future.” He introduced the advantages of Futian District as the international cooperation hub of Shenzhen, covering aspects such as the business environment, economic vitality, and development opportunities. This provided a reference for foreign enterprises looking to land and develop in China, instilling confidence and anticipation for European enterprises in China’s development.

Ms. Li Yu, Vice President of the Southern China Region of the London Development Promotion Bureau, delivered a keynote presentation on the theme “New Opportunities for Overseas Expansion in the UK.” She provided a comprehensive introduction to the investment environment, industrial policies, and collaborative trends related to Chinese companies expanding into the UK. This strengthened the confidence of enterprises in actively expanding into international markets and integrating into the global innovation network.

Mr. Cui Jun, one of ALB China’s top 15 intellectual property lawyers, shared insights on the topic “Enhancing Awareness of Intellectual Property Protection (Going Global).” He provided a detailed analysis of practical cases involving intellectual property protection in cooperation between domestic and foreign enterprises. Mr. Cui emphasized the importance for companies operating overseas to “focus on patent quality, enhance risk resistance, and adopt a comprehensive approach to prevent intellectual property infringement issues.” This offered professional solutions to the intellectual property risk management challenges faced by enterprises in the process of going global.

Dr. Gao Peng, Senior Advisor at the Norwegian Innovation Office in China, presented on the theme “China-Europe Technology Cooperation – Europe’s Horizon Project Reconnect China WP1.” He introduced typical cases of technology cooperation between China and Europe, advocating for strengthened collaboration in the field of digital economy between China and Europe.
