On September 25, 2024, the first session of the “Sci-Tech Cross-Border” International Translational Medicine Exchange Series — a special event focused on China-Europe Biotechnology and Advanced Medical Research — was successfully held. The event was hosted by the Shenzhen Science and Technology Exchange Service Center and organized by Gesol (Shenzhen) Tech and Innovation Center Co., Ltd.

Professor James Triffitt, a leading expert in bone cell biology and mesenchymal stem cells from the University of Oxford; Wang Bin, Executive Vice President of the Shenzhen Medical Device Industry Association; and Gao Shu, Chief Partner of Huashang, delivered keynote addresses. They unanimously affirmed Shenzhen’s role as a city of science and innovation and emphasized the city’s ongoing commitment to fostering an open, inclusive, and win-win innovation ecosystem. Inspiring Thematic Talks Spark Innovation

Ulf Borbos, Co-founder and Chairman of the Nordic Research Institute for Global Environmental Cooperation (NRI Center), delivered a keynote speech on “Factors and Development Trends in Life Sciences and Environmental Sustainability,” offering new perspectives and recommendations for addressing global climate change and biodiversity conservation.

Professor Hao Liang, doctoral supervisor at Southern University of Science and Technology, delivered an inspiring speech titled “Prospects for the Application of Innovative Design and 3D Printing in Orthopedic Repair and Orthopedics,” showcasing the limitless possibilities of integrating technology and medicine.

Dr. Hao Zhang, PhD in Biomaterials from the University of Oxford, shared the latest research progress on “Microsphere-Based Production of Medical Aesthetic-Grade Stem Cell Exosomes,” analyzing its highly attractive market potential and broad application prospects. Cai Yumeng, China Representative of the Oxford International Biomedical Empowerment Center (OIBEC), delivered a presentation titled “R&D and Translational Pathways of Oxford Biomedical Innovation Projects in China,” offering new perspectives for the implementation and industrialization of biomedical projects.
During the open discussion session, the guests engaged in in-depth conversations on key issues in the field of biomedicine, sharing their research achievements and practical experiences while jointly exploring future opportunities for collaboration and directions for development.
This event was not only a grand feast of academic exchange, but also a strong testament to the collaboration between medical technology enterprises in Shenzhen and those in European countries and regions, sparking intellectual synergy and fostering collaborative innovation across the industry.
As a flagship program carefully developed and promoted by the CAST Haizhi Base (Shenzhen), the “Cross-Border Sci-Tech Innovation” series has established an open, diverse, and shared platform for global research institutions, universities, enterprises, and scientific communities, earning sustained attention and wide acclaim from the industry. As one of the key members of the CAST Haizhi Workstation, the Jingrui Technology Innovation Center will continue to leverage its resource advantages and service expertise, focusing on strategic areas such as intelligent manufacturing, new energy vehicles, new materials, and medical devices. It will further deepen and consolidate the foundation of the international science and technology service platform it has built, continuously promoting cross-border cooperation between Chinese and European enterprises in technology, industry, and talent. In doing so, it aims to accelerate the transformation of global scientific and technological achievements into real productivity and to foster the deep integration of industry, academia, and research.
