On May 30,2023, Qiu Fan, the Honorary Chairman of the Overseas Friendship Association of Futian District and the President of the British Shenzhen Chamber of Commerce, visited the United Front Department of the Futian District Committee. They had discussions and exchanges with Wu Huan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Futian District Committee and the Minister of the United Front Department, on topics such as attracting investment and talent, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The British Shenzhen Chamber of Commerce was established in April 2016 with the aim of providing a platform for Shenzhen compatriots living in the UK and overseas compatriots who identify with Shenzhen, and promoting economic and trade exchanges between Shenzhen and the UK. In February of this year, facilitated by the British Shenzhen Chamber of Commerce, a delegation from Futian District successfully held the “Entering Futian, Discussing Development” business salon in the UK. The event fostered discussions and cooperation between the two regions in the fields of scientific research, economic and trade, and culture. Wu Huan expressed gratitude to President Qiu Fan for his contributions to promoting exchanges and cooperation in scientific research, economic and trade, and culture between the two regions. He hoped that the British Shenzhen Chamber of Commerce would continue to play a role as a bridge in the private sector, consistently promote exchanges between Futian District and the UK, and ensure the success of the results from this visit. The aim is to unite and mobilize the vast resources of overseas Chinese capital and enterprises, build a platform for cooperation and mutual benefit for overseas Chinese entrepreneurs, and contribute to the high-quality development of Futian’s economy and society.
Qiu Fan stated that he would continue to promote the establishment of an economic and trade exchange cooperation platform with the British Shenzhen Chamber of Commerce in Futian. By connecting with the London Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese Community Centre, and other Chinese community organizations in the UK, the British Shenzhen Chamber of Commerce aims to establish regular collaboration. This includes refining daily operating models and dividing responsibilities to better utilize resources in both the international and domestic markets. The goal is to secure more cooperation opportunities and investment projects for the hometown and contribute to the high-quality development of Futian’s economy and society.
